Evaluation Question 7

For our very last evaluation question we were asked 'Looking back at your preliminary task, What do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the main task?'

Comparing our preliminary task and our thriller opening i think there is a clear difference in both confidence of the group as a whole and the understanding of the technology and how to use it.

Personally, i think i improved in many ways even though i did the same job in both and took charge of filming, whilst also sharing it with Eleanor, i did gain confidence in the preliminary task which enabled me to do a lot of different shots and have many more ideas when filming our thriller opening such as attempting a 180 degree turn with the camera when Tahlia walks out the house!

I also had a go at many other shots such as a low shot filming Tahlia's feet when she is walking up the street, a long shot when Tahlia is walking down the lane and looking back and also a over the shoulder shot when she is sat on the swing, by using all these different shots i think it made it look professional and added effect so the audience are kept entertained.

We did use more software's in the Thriller opening compared to the preliminary task because when we did our preliminary task we put the title on as just basic titles, but for the thriller opening we used 'Adobe After Effects' for the 'BGTE Productions' which as well made the film look more professional than our preliminary task.

There are some Similarities between the two films, like the fact we used a black and white effect for both but this was because we wanted it to be such a bleak setting and no colorful settings so that it may add to the sinister feeling we were going for.

Overall, i think there is a clear difference between the preliminary task and the Thriller opening because we used more software's to make it look more thought about and we also used more camera shots and angles. another point to make would be that we went out of our comfort zone of the school environment and went to Wingerworth and filmed in many different locations around that area which for me was a little challenging because it was a case of keeping the camera set on the perfect setting and the right focus before every shot which i got used to after a couple of times of doing it and then there was making sure the tri-pod was standing on a suitable surface that didn't put any of the equipment in danger of being damaged, i also had to keep a eye on the weather and see if we were going to be able to film, due to me being a very determined person i was confident i would film even when faced with storm Doris.
