Issues that we faced

As a group we did work really well together and we decided between us what we were going to do and who was going to do certain jobs. We decided that Tahlia would be the main actress because of her drama studies, Eleanor would be the other actress because she wanted to have ago at being on the opposite side of the camera to last time when we did our preliminary task, Grace took editing because our filming location was far away from where she lived and she is also the most talented in our group at editing as she seems to understand it more and me, I took the role of filming which I did share with Eleanor because I had issues with attendance and illness. We did start filming later than we had planned but this was just because we struggled to find a time when we were all free. The first day of filming it was just me and Tahlia and we decided to try and face storm Doris and it was a challenge but we did get a lot of it done even if it was freezing cold! The wind and rain was in our face s...

Location shots for our thriller

Image
Hi Everyone! Here are some location shots from our 'Don't Walk Alone' thriller opening and just some captions letting you know why we chose them. This is one of the first locations we see where the young girl is having the argument with her friend inside the house. This is the street Tahlia walks up to get away from the chaos, we clearly see the street deserted in the film showing she's all alone so that later on it causes confusion. We then move to this shot, where things begin to be noticeable that something isn't quite right as Tahlia turns after felling uneasy as she is on her own. This is the park where we see her walk up and sit on a swing, we made a point of having the swings moving when she already got there to add to the eerie sense we were trying to create. We decided on a playground to show something normally seen as innocent and happy to be then seen as sinister which would add to the non-diegetic sound that compliments th...

Legal Documents

Image
Hi Everyone! Before we began filming we had to sort out a legal document to show the risks we were taking, this was to ensure the health and safety of everyone both filming and taking part in our film 'Don't Walk Alone'. The reason for doing a risk assessment was to acknowledge the fact we knew what could go wrong and by doing a risk assessment. We had to do a risk assessment because even though our film wasn't violent or anything like that it still meant we needed to cross roads and walk along slippery surfaces. We further included information on the company name and the organisation which for us would have been 'BGTE' productions and the organisation would have been 'Tupton Hall School'.

Marketing in media

Image
Today in lesson we learnt some facts about Marketing in the media and to display the information clearly I decided to use a pie chart. The pie chart shows that in the British Film Industry 10%  were UK independent films, 34% were made in the UK but backed by American companies and 51% were films made in the USA.        By looking at these statistics it clearly shows how the American film industry is still dominant even over the British Film market. We clearly see that British films which are backed by American companies (such as Warner Bro's) are much more successful than UK independent films (such as Film 4 productions). Cross Media Convergence is...      2014 saw a record year for British Films... UK Box Office receipts of over £1,000,000,000,000. Over £1,000,000,000,000 spent on productions shot in the UK. Amount of films being made in the UK is up to35%. UK productions had a market share of 16% : co- productio...

What makes a British Film?

Hello everyone! in lesson today we've been looking at what makes a film British? well, we were asked to do some research and see what process a film had to go through to be classified as a British film. Every film goes through the 'cultural test'. This is when films score points from how many targets they reach, if they reach over 16 points then the film is claimed as British.

First Thoughts- Section B Introduction

Hi Everyone! Today we got introduced to Section B of the exam and we went over a few key things to remember(By learning about different film production companies it helped us to decide which film company we would sell our film to) Some of the Key Information:  The exam lasts approximately 2 hours It is worth 50% of your overall mark/grade.  You have to answer two questions in total, one from section A and another from section B. Both are worth 50 marks which equals to 25% of your overall grade. You should spend 45 minutes on each question. at least 30 minutes of the exam will be taken up by watching the clip for section A. for section B you will just be given a question to answer. In part B of the exam you can refer to theorists but it is not compulsory. So you could talk about the Marxist view and the feminist view but you are not required to by the examiner.
